however in answer to your question, a quick call to DB would probably sort it

Old 2.5hp motors didn't not have an earth terminal, the retaining screws retaining motor to top housing were the earth.
Generally you will see a bolt just welded to to motor casing, or no major earth cable.

2.5 motors have a keyway main shaft, whereas 4.5's will be of the 36 spline shaft.

Back of the 2.5hp don't retain the brushes and is a skinny plate.

Thanks all, looks like it has the newer motor - definitely a bolt for earth on the motor and it does look fairly new. It was the big Warn solenoid pack that threw me, it looks very big and old school compared to an Albright.

As much as I would like a bit of Gigglepin going and some Bow 2s my budget has been used and then some.

6.5" in length to include end plate that is flush..... Mine has a flat area bolt sized machined at bottom and tapped for bolt that was the earth to chassis..

6hp is about 7 3/4" and has plastic cap on end....  By comparison...... No idea about 4hp known as the 8274-50
But prob somewhere in the middle?

all ID plates have been etched by battery corrosion so no help there  :jpshakehead:
