Replacement Ignition Barrel
« on: November 10, 2012, 08:41:30 PM »

Hi All

Firstly im new to the jeeping world having been converted over from land rovers

Just bought the 5.9 V8 CJ7 that was on ebay in September, Picked it up this morning, sweet as a nut

Have found that I can take the keys out of the ignition and it doesn't turn off the engine. Neat trick !! but not very safe as you can now start it without the keys

Can you get a replacement Barrel anywhere in the UK or do they have to come from the US. Again sorry if its a silly question but not sure where to get parts yet

Its the 1982 RH drive CJ7, im not fussed about it having different keys

Cheers
Rob

BD is right the key can be removed with the engine running, and will stop and restart unless you fully turn it off, once the ignition is turned fully anticlockwise you should need the key to restart it.
