I can see the sense, axle off carlos 175 squidsishdrive shaft, bearing kit, discs, pads etc will be way more IMHO DON'T forget the piss taking too
i could swap a shaft in 1/2 hour using sockets and a pair of mole grips, on the roadside if it came to it. If you want to fit a new bearing and seal then a dremel and press make it nice but can be done with a long piece of pipe and a chisel. Swapping brakes is easy and if you clamp the pipe you will need little bleeding.Replacing an axle is a big job, by all means buy the axle as it is cheap but dont fit it all. I dont understand the logic
thinks its more a weather related repair and having the tools to do the job.
