Axles again

Wow second post in a day
Does anybody know of any supplier that can cope with the import of a new crate front axle?
It seems to me that there are 2 choices
1 Get them to import (if they can) as they may have more favourable transport costs
2 Import it myself and get ripped of by fed-ex or UPS
The thing that swings it in favour of supplier is if they get a discount from the people in the states – otherwise you are just going to pay more because of their profit.
I know when I looked at bringing stuff in in bulk, for the various Mustangs I’ve owned over the years, – the first question US suppliers ask is how many 000’s would you like. Which when it comes to axles isn’t going to happen
Mr Wildwood you were partially right the insanity is taking hold but as I want to stay at the same vehicle width I shall probably go Dana44 rather than 60
Going of at a slight tangent there are a few Grand Cherokee (pre ifs obviously) front axles on fleabay. They look like Dana30’s but being no expert may not be what axle is it likely to be
Many thanks as always
Lord Tim

I think you are getting carried away Tim, think of what type of froading you want to do before big spends.
TJ can do lots of stuff without axle change. Willo has done it for extreme events but i am sure you will have never tried owt like that, spoken in a true northern fashion lol

I've never broken anything axle related in 8 years. I do drive quite carefully but a few people have witnessed me giving it some, getting some air and redlining the engine

I have to agree with the previous comments....however if you do decide to import, give me a shout first...I am just about to have some interesting meetings with the right people in the right area...

lord Tim....... Just a heads up.on the Dana30 or Dana 44 route ....... Unless you. Get a hi zoot 44 Tis only the diff that is different the tubes and knuckles with be same and the shafts and UJs will be the same.
If you go hi zoot then maybe thicker tubes and Crane knuckles and spendy shafts and UJs and a world of financial pain.
main advantage for you is the, lower than 4.88 that is the stumbling block of the Dana 30 whereas the 44 can get you to the 5.13 where you prob want to be.
Some in. The USA are buying the JK axles that are new generation 44s.....now available in a TJ width and can be bought ready to load in yer TJ.... Worth a research if you are going that route.

Also look at Curries long time fave of the JP lot and put together neat Ford 9" rear end and front ends for TJ size vehicles. same size as Dana 44 but stronger and more toys available. also from a maintenance point
of view if ya pull the drive shafts and unbolt the diff the whole plot comes out leaving an empty axle tube and diff case for ease of maintainance on the bench.. Ford 9" is the darling of the roundly roundly brigade, so as said lots of stuff available.

Tim if a 37" tyre is your target I would not throw a 60 under the front...
I'm curious what is your budget?
