So my Numax CXV24 went tits up 2 days before CF and got a refund but had to make do with a borrowed Astra Van battery
that died before Christmas so I have used the GC battery to move the1 Tonne around......so after not using the GC for 2 Weeks the battery for that which is kept alive with a C-Tek  has today cried enough....5 years old and I guess does not like not being used regularly.....


So.......because the 1 Tonne is now 2 battery capable and the GC also needs a battery I have to get on the phone to Tanya Batteries in the morning..... I really could do without this but knew it was gonna raise its ugly head soon.

Cherokee has run without fault since the Turkey hunt. Loads of short journeys and feckin about have seen a relentless starter and workhorse .... Wifey (who uses it rarely) takes it out and it runs as expected. She returns and the fookin thing is deader than a dead thing, not even a light on the dash 

Need recovery dood to attend and he straps on the starter/ booster pack and low and behold it all lights up and starts .....

My Q7 has consumed £500 worth of batteries in the last month. One outcome being I have a new Alphaline 019 spare, used for 3 wks if anyone needs a cheap big battery.

Batteries arrived this morning at 9.00 beautifully packaged and.......I can now start the GC......ànd indeed the 1 Tonne
If we ever emerge from the Ice Age....

I fell out with Tayna a couple of yrs ago; they wouldn't honour a 3yr guarantee on an Odyssey battery. Claimed that it was only warrantied for 1 yr in the uk and the paperwork in the box didn't apply.

foooooooook this SHIET just don't buy optima!!!!

Bit late for me now, bought an Optima for the GC a few weeks ago...


....but I've seen a few posts of this ilk (as in, don't touch Optima with a long pointy thing) and loads of posts saying how good they are, which was why I got one.

..so, can I ask why you say 'don't buy an Optima'? - it might help me to know what to look for if it starts playing up!!

I usually go to Tayna for batteries too. Thankfully, never needed to follow up on a warranty claim....so far.  Perhaps my buying an Optima might change that.

I brought a second hand yellow optima years back and it works great    ......touch wood

I'm with Gaz..been hearing stories about Jeepers getting 5 years plus out of them, so they can't be too bad. I'm almost due to replace the original battery in the KJ and been thinking of one of them.

Ya pays ya money and ya takes ya chances, I guess. At the end of the day, it's what works best for you. Me, I'd rather buy a Bosch with a three year warranty, but the reverse terminal crap is proving to be an issue.

I run Bosch sliver 100ah
Run it flat ,run winches
Jump it will a 80A charger for 10 mins
and then start the jeep
Generally do all the things you shouldn't  do to a battery and in 8 years not killed it yet

My red top optima failed a few weeks after the guarantee expired, not impressed, called Tayna and told them that and according to the forums in the US, Optima switched manufacturing to Mexico and have never been the same since.  When made in the USA they were legendary often lasting 7 or more years.
