TJ front brake caliper
«

I've just fitted new pads and discs to the front of my TJ
The n/s caliper piston was a right sod to push in, had to use a lot of force, now after titting new discs and pads, the caliper is leaking, the brake fluid is coming out of the rubber cover round the piston, brake pedal goes straight to the floor,
Wonder if if damaged the seal/piston?
Any body got a caliper they want shut of?
If I have to get a new caliper, where's the best place to get one from?

Cheapest place to get a caliber is USAutomotive in Bedford. Will cost you £50 plus £10 carriage

Its relative easy to replace the piston and seals, there is a loads of these refurbish kits on the net...
Just a thought ... Do you have ABS on you TJ?.? If so, when you pushed the piston back in, you need to open your bleed valve just a tat to squeeze out the break fluid behind the piston, as these ABS systems does not like getting the fluid force back through, and doing this might cause damage to your ABS system

as above - rebuild for £20 or get one off an xj £20 ish then rebuild your old one and keep it as a spare, they are left and right handed so its nice to have one of each if poss and easier just to swap when needed..
It seems every time you put new pads in you have to clean and lubricate the piston..

I found rebuilding a waste of time, countless hours stripping, cleaning etc and £40 of kits later still had 2 stuck callipers. Perhaps mine were too far gone.
Avondale Dodge dealer in Texas off eBay Us ship; brand new and cheap, 1 hr later all done

Hi Dont forget that TJ's have 2 different disc's there is about 8mm difference in the spacing between one and tother
I had the problem of the brakes seizing on when i had the wrong disc
dont know whether this helps

Good to know; I'm still on the original discs whichve lasted 110k miles.
Despite City & County jeep saying they needed changing at 33k service. Strangely enough they're out of business now.

Funnily enough, was told my discs on der panzer needed changing at 32k by VW Worcester, done 69k now, 2 services & 2 MOT's later, must think all people who live in Worcester must have emigrated from Hereford
