So its time to do some work on the jeep instead of just trying to destroy it. First on the list was new front end as I was fed up of the poor approach angle and the fact that is was twisted.
So have built new front end.

Next on the list is panhard rod mounting, new steering links and all being well 4-link rear.

Have you cut out the front crossmember to put the winch in at the front? I can't see the full size pics at the moment to check.

Got some more stuff done, and found some more things that need doing. You know how they say measure twice cut once? Well I wanted the winch to be more tucked up but think I should have had the whole lot slightly further forward, the grill overhangs in the centre.
But it's to late now as its welded on.

Took the wheels off to do the panhard mount and for a knackered wheel bearing, slightly worn knuckles where the pads sit and ball joints shot, so have stripped the axle and ordered parts.

Mud vented discs.
Oh and don't look to hard at the welding it's not the best, need a workshop the wind keeps blowing the gas away

Good work. I feel your pain with the outdoor workshop, not fun with the weather we've been having.

Is your front bumper now doing the crossmember job and did you keep the parts of it that the rad slots into?

Yeah the bumper/winch mount is now the cross member, kept the top panel that mounts the rad.

Got it mot'd and taxed today ready for breakout and fitted new wheels and tyres off Charliejeep, cheers.
Will continue with the rest after aquiring more parts and getting some froading done

So as it worked so well at breakout and nothing broke I decided that I may as well continue trying to make it worse/better and have started on the 4-link rear. Have no reason for doing this other than why not 

Any pointers welcome, not saying I'll listen as its a case of put stuff where it'll fit  But if you see something that is obviously wrong tell me please. Aiming to get it done for wagtail, so have around 16 days to do it.

Got the link mounts made and the axle truss, truss will have plate bolted on going to top diff pan bolts when finished.

I wish, no it'll just be on coils and the same shocks on new mounts. Maybe a change to something fancy if this works ok. At the minute it a build on the cheap (ish) side.

Ooh, good work looks good so far. It's pretty obvious but the truss to axle tube welds need to be spot on.

Getting there slowly, may even make it to next event with luck. 

Got the links on and it seems to be ok, although it won't have much uptravel as the upper links hit the floor. Full bump is around 2.5" over stock xj height, will cut floor out at later date to get more up travel.
First pic is with zg rear springs 2nd with stock xj fronts. Will have to run the zg springs until i sort sye and double cardan prop, as it is I may have to run front wheel drive on the road and fit rear prop when I get there as uj angles as set for cv prop so prop clears x-member. Expecting much viabration 

Still got to finish x-member, fully weld some other bits, build shock mounts and limit straps, truss brace, sort longer brake flex hose and mount hard lines and build some sort of exhaust
