TJ hardtop advice needed
« on: March 24, 2013, 08:04:52 PM »

Got myself a Hardtop for my TJ today..

Question then..
* As its a bit faded, whats the best way in getting it nice and black again
* Wiring harness, I have a 2005 TJ and the hardtop came of a 2004 .. So where's the best place to get the harness with switches etc, or do you guys have any tips / advice ..

Nope, it's a soft top originally, so no switches or harness

That has to be the first TJ I've seen that doesn't ! Well the only place you'll get everything you need is a breakers, but enjoy wiring it up

Have you taken the centre panel out (where the radio is) to see if there are three plugs where he switches go?

And I take it you've looked in the back for the multi plug where the hardtop connects and there's nothing there?

Not true, only Sahara had it as standard with the Sport it was extra, also you will find two types of block connecter.

There is no plug at the back, where it should hookup with the hardtop..  Just to clarify, I have the Renegade model

Renegade is the same as a Sport specification (no wiring), you need to establish what hard top you have, does it have a vent at the rear most panel of the side windows? Or is it solid (no vent) ?

There is no vent at the rear..  My understanding is that this vent was removed from2003 onwards..

As previous mentioned, this top came of a 2004 TJ

The vents were moved into the tailgate on the later models.

Indeed, but this has a bearing as to the wiring kit you require, give me a minute and I will find a link for you....

I concur as I have them both here...
