TJ 4 Low ?
« on: April 14, 2013, 03:25:28 PM »

Using 4 low it engages, light on, crawl forward on tick over ok, but if you put a bit of load on it slides out   :017:

I tried adjusting the shifter but no joy any thoughts

I agree, you may also find a stiffer TC/Belly pan mount is needed as the standard one is a bit soft and with the lift it can make it even more wooly

I used this method when I had a transfer case drop before getting my SYE and driveshaft. Can't remember which way the lever at the transfer case shifts to go to 4L so have a look at it in 2H and 4L from underneath so you know which way it goes. Put the shifter in 4L and trap a 1/8" drill bit or screwdriver shaft that size between the shift lever and the gate. I did this from in the Jeep and used a bit of tape to hold it in place. Undo the trunnion bolt them make sure the transfer case is in 4L by moving the lever at the transfer case. Tighten the trunnion bolt and remove the drill bit/screwdriver. By setting the lever with that 1/8" spacing between the lever and gate it should mean slack in the linkage is taken up and the transfer case fully engages 4WD.

Thanks, Tried the instructions earlier, but did not try the 1/8" might have to give it a go at the weekend.
From underneath the others clunk through but on Low its as if it needs more pressure to clunk it home.

The body lift should have come with a drop bracket that fits on bracket no 8 in the diagram but try the adjustment first  :greggmo:

Good point worth a try  , left out as the instructions said only to fit if transfer case has been lowered.

Good call, double checked added looks better.  :icon_winkle:
Now it looks as if the bracket 9 (Borrowed the image thanks) catches on the fixings bolts, can you bend it on of take it off ?
