Whats this?
« on: June 14, 2013, 11:52:04 AM »

I know it's some form of bump stop but why is it on the spring and not the axle tube (there is one there already), I have these on both front corners but want to know what they do and if they are standard or aftermarket? Do I need them? can I remove them?

That should hit the spring before the main bump stop so the spring rate increases. Less spring length makes it stiffer for the last bit of travel.

Na delk is correct its almost a kick back to pre war thinkin in them days they used to add an overload spring so you had pliant springs till you got a good load on then the whole thing got stiffer as it sat down on its hounches on the overload spring and got all stiffy like
This works the sam but instead of a spring its like a snubber

Sorry I'm with Bubba, the axle looks to be low pinion therefore under forward acceleration the pinion would twist the axle down not up against the stops. I think?

So, my question is, do I need it? Should I get rid of it? Pro's Cons?

Personally I would leave as is. Might over bend the springs without them there.
