I would expect almost the same TX as AM using FM. FM tends to be cleaner though. And yea, I run both AM and SSB. Only one of my radios has FM...which I'll have hooked back up in the truck again here soon. Not sure the frequencies you guys run over there, but propagation (skip) cycle won't be back for another few years...or rather, the good cycle.
I have lots or radios and antenns BTW. Been into radios stuff off and on for over 30 years now. In the TJ though, I just run a simple peaked and tweaked Uniden Pro510 w/Astic D104 microphone. It dead keys 3 watts modulating to about 14watts @ 110% modulation. Nice, clean and crisp mod. I have mobile amplifiers, too...but I don't run one in the TJ (yet). In the pick up truck I run either my Cobra 200 (swings 150w) or my old 148gtl (modified) to my old class AB-1 Magnum 4000 (750w PEP) :oops:
