The JEEP badges on my WJ have shed their chrome. I believe Jeep used a an inferior supplier in the Far East when building the WJ and that this annoying issue is common.

Got some replacement ones but how the f**k do I get the old ones off without damaging the paintwork on the hood or tailgate!!! Any ideas appreciated!!

I dont use a hot air gun , just a standard hair drier in a sheltered location.

I removed all the badges off my WJ apart from the 60th Anniversary and V8 badge.

Did it on a warm day with just my fingers and picked the sticky off with my nails.

hot water from a kettle works well less chance of paint damage too then a quick clean up with a mild solvent

I changed my badges and just warmed them slightly with a hot air gun and used one of those George Foreman grille flat grey plastic spatula, worked a treat lol.

I removed the badges from my MGF (they suffer a similar failure) using a hairdryer and dental floss .

Lovely job and no paintwork damage.

...it is true, I did assume most of you still had teeth and hair, but even if the ravages of time have left you with wigs and dentures there's still the chance your Mrs will have her own hair and teeth (possibly) so hairdryer and dental floss might still be around the house
