Front diff
« on: December 22, 2013, 08:42:17 PM »

Quadra drive front diff, had pinion bearings done as making noise now getting a scuffing sound and vibration on turns left and right left the worse of two. Front diff started to make a meshing noise like not set up correctly and getting hot, so removed front drive shaft, diff noise gone still gets hot and scuffing noise not so bad. Changing transfer case oil when it arrives but it's Xmas and post is bad, any thoughts will be welcome, thanks

Sounds like wrong oil in it, did it have the friction modifier added?

Drained out the oil the transmission shop put in it and replaced with the correct oil plus sm but only had Ford modifier but thought should be ok but sounds like the pinion is meshing to early or to late booked it back in on 2/1/14 to check maybe 2nd time lucky???
