Last weekend was going up a very long hill doing approx 70 mph and there is an overpowering smell of grilled mature cheddar cheese wafting into the truck - was bad enuff to make me stop and lift the bonnet to see if something was melting but no smoke or owt obvious. Continued on journey and hit similar speeds on the flat without the smell returning.

Today however another steep long hill on a m/way and exactly the same smell .....

The kids have been with me both times and found it hilarious so i know it's not me hallucinating.

Any ideas?

I feel the level of gravitas being applied to this issue isn't appropriate

As far as I can tell this is only a prob goin up a long fast hill coz not noticed it at any other point

put a note under the bonet for some burgers or steak, at least the joker will see the note when they lift the bonnet to add more cheese

You'll be generating some heat on the hills, you might just be heating something up a bit much. The build is still fairly fresh, maybe it will fade with time as everything gets broken in. Is the temperature reading normal?

Blue Bell hill first time and then the hill outa Dover the next - both main A roads

The temp reading sits halfway between centre and hot, which is 'hotter' than where my other V8s have sat but as a new heat temp doodah was fitted at same time as new elec twin fans so im guessin it's the gauge rather than actual real temp

I had thought it must be burning stuff off but I have done 50 miles or so between hills with no grilled cheese so it was weird it comin back today

Is there anything stuck to the underside of the Jeep?
Like a dead tramp stuck to the bottom of the transmission.
I find it pays to check every now and again.

has the truck been through wet mud lately?

have had some funny smells from old mud that has dried then got wet then hot again.
