The ZJ front to rear coil mod
« on: June 29, 2014, 09:04:14 PM »

Done a load of googling re the front to rear coil swop but could do with some local lads opinion :icon_biggrin:
When I fitted 31's to the ZJ, I already had some +2 front coils from the XJ to fit. Now I need to get some lift on the rear especially now that the truck has been fitted with a 80l lpg tank. Searching the 'ol net says the swop should get me a 3" lift but Im hoping for no more than that as I dont want to be having to mod the rear trackbar If I can help it! Maybe with the lpg tank, it wont be anymore than +3". I would rather have a single coil than a spacer if it can be helped!
Here's a photo (not great) before the lpg tank was fitted.

I've just sold some front XJ springs from a 2.5 petrol to someone for the same use on a ZJ  -2" lift I think because they are a bit softer

Xj fronts on the rear lift about 3"  but don't forget the panard rod as my springs rattle on the body when she has no weight in!

I have fitted 2.5 petrol xj springs on the rear of a zj and 2" spacers on the front and its nice and level plus didn't need the panhard bar adjusting .
I can see 4.0l front spring giving a 3" lift as they are rated different.

Cheers for the thoughts lads, a few options it would seem! After all that I think Im going to try the front to rear mod as I have nowt to lose except the hours :icon_biggrin: Then I will fill the tank & load my normal tools to see how it sits. Other than this, a pair of zj coil spacers will be on the cards but Llama wont have any for about a fortnight.
Unless someone else has a pair to sell or needs front spacers and wants to swop :icon_winkle:

Don't know if they'll be any use to anyone, I'll have a pair of front xj coils spare in around a months time. They're +3", but on the tired side, with the weight of the bumper and winch they're sittin quite low now. Free, just need to pick up or arrange courier.
