Its been ages since I last used the Jeep, so thought givin it a quick once over..  Notice a drip from my rear axle.. The pinion are always wet, put it down to sweating, but had my first drip of oil..

Had a quick look at the oil in the axle, and its not as full as I like it to be, so question then, can I use this oil to top it up??

I also used this oil for the front axle a while ago, but just want to make sure it can be used for the rear axle as well, as a topup for now, as I know re additives etc..

For a full oil change the additive will be required, part #04318060AB

I also read that the additive dissipates and breaks down over time so top ups of that is required too. you can buy oil with the friction modifier already in it

the friction additive isnt that expensive either online or from a dealer

Any independant car shop selling Comma oils should be able to get the LS80W90 oil for you.

Ebay has it too and may be cheaper than a car shop. Per litre bottle...

Question then, yeah I know it might be stupid, but we all have to learn somehow...  As this is an additive to the oil, whats the ratio to the oil, ie how much axle oil to how much additive ??  Or is do I just fill with this oil (link in previous)??

Normally one bottle of additive per diff oil change, all this to one side, just to top up as per my previous post use what you have already linked. Chances are the locker will be FUBUR anyway.

I would personally use a full synthetic 75W140. Costs more but Jeep diffs appear to be made of cheese, so anything to help preserve them is worthwhile.
