trying to do spanner planning things
do 15 inch rims fit on wj knuckles with the big whiz bang brakes from a WJ
this is all part of the steering upgrade
I don't want to alter the WJ set up in anyway - like grinding edges or ought
if it make any difference (I guess it might) i will be running 32mm spacers

dont the WJ use 16" rims to clear the calipers. If so then you might be too close for clearence of calpiers with 15" rims

Big leap ........but go 17" and then lots of stuff available......

For example my H2 hummer wheels had 305s on them.........or 35" in real money......

Went and banged 39.5s on them no prob.........


Back in the real world 37s are easy to get in the UK "......suit you sir.

15" alloys will not work, 15" steel  after market wheels will

Yup what Daggie said, the wheel spacers do help too. You're welcome to try putting a wheel over my brakes at Cheapfest if it would help.

I'm sure that I have read somewhere that they do fit, but you need the correct amount of back space. James I'll take you up on the offer and try that

I would like to go to 35's (I know I know the hp d30 will melt = but i promise to go steady)
you can't do 16inch rims in that size except for Simex look a likes - which I don't want - KM2's please
Jez I take your point as that would work with the 5 on 5 stud spacing - JK wheels - will have another look at this

you can do 35s on a D30, you just have to avoid mud and a right foot that is only off or on, aka Bulldog offroad driving

I had 35s on my first YJ with a 35 plus locker on the rear broke it comprehensively at Tong on the rocks.
Got a dana44 from a TJ and that is still going .....now owned by Robbsrotti. Gotta be 12 years now

The 30 on the front had FW hubs and shafts from Warn and was never a prob had a lock right and finally an ARB.....also still going strong in the same ownership as above....

Just don't take the steering stops out and rag it over rocks and tree roots at full throttle when the red mist descends.the UJs will not like you

Has anyone comments - have used Maxxis creepy crawlers
they do a 35 12.5 16 so pretty good on all counts - except too wide

i have a set of creepies in 35x12.5 x 16" we used them at kov i was pleasantly surprised by them, a much better allround tyre than simex, not quite as aggressive so i doubt you will do too much harm to your piddly d30, but all in all an awesome tyre

i will have them on at cheapfest

No but WJ knuckles conversion for big bad ass brakes will fit your set up.......oh yes

I have those creepys on my XJ and haven't bust axles yet but I think my driving style is quite soft on the drivetrain, I tend to thrash it when I think it's safe to (not bouncing or on full lock). I think they are a good tyre but absolute shite on road above 50mph.

Do the free wheeling hubs just replace the unit bearing?

Yes. And then when the bearings go its about £20 from bearing boys for new ones......happy days.

Well it sounds promising, if they fit in an XJ knuckle then they will fit the WJ knuckle, it just might take some spacing of the caliper or choosing the right discs to get them lined up
