I Love the patrol to bits but it is sorely tempting my patience
Please can any one help with the following (Big patrol are you out there)
when braking reasonably hard (or from speed) the truck pulls quite noticeably to the left
it feels like the whole truck is (for want of a better word) squirming
I have changed all callipers and all brake bits - i really don't think its brakes
as the patrol has those hockey stick things to hold the front axles in place could it be bushes, either on the sale or as it mounts to the body
or an i chatting sh1t
any thoughts gratefully recd

Well all the control arm bushes are stuffed on my Tj, when I floor the throttle I have to turn the steering to the right to go straight then when I come off the throttle I have to re straighten otherwise Ill via off, also when I brake I get a sway going on and I swear some times it handles like a stuffed fork truck, axles all coming off soon to be replaced and all LCA bushes getting done and new UCA,s so hopefully it will be a pleasure to drive not the nightmare it is at the moment.
So I can sympathise with your handling problem and hope you get to the bottom of it.

I have a 2000 model Patrol which I've had for almost 7 years...within my family there are around 6 others ranging from about 1998 up to 2012 models ...which one do you have?

sounds like a normal day driving a CJ7.

personally i would look at the axle control bushes, you may have on that has started to rip allowing more movement for/aft

Just a stab in the dark, are the tyres on the front the same with same tread pattern and pressure

From where I sit, it's looking like worn bushings in most, if not all of the stabilizer bars...it would be worth replacing all of them at the same time IMHO. They are reasonably easy to get and if you have a press, they are a piece of cake to fit.

Now if only someone had a drivers side door lock...just the bit that the key fits into...to suit my Y61, I would be dead chuffed. Heaps of them on Fleabay, but none with a key, which makes them worthless! Some motherless twat filled mine with some unknown substance on the recent Halloween wankfest and now the key won't even go in, let or alone turn in the barrel!! 24 hours soaking in acetate made no difference, nor did petrol!!

To be brutally honest, I don't think that whatever vehicle you end up going out to play in is going to matter all that much. All moving parts, especially in the suspension system, are designed to wear and will need to be replaced at some stage...some sooner than others and some will be more expensive than others to replace. In my mind, that's the nature of the beast!

At the end of the day, it's what keeps the smile on your face that counts.
