Right, Airbag fault next
«

At a pay and play in the summer the airbag light came on, no biggie I just put some tape on the instruments. Started a new job recently and they have a snap on solus ultra box that pulled the codes Airbag control module intenal 3, stored logic and accelerometer. They won't clear and keep coming back on so is it a case of taking out the unit that I think is under the armrest and swapping it?

I'm not suggesting that you try this, but I had my airbag light come on in my Peugeot 406 a couple of years ago...I would clear it, but within a half a mile it would come on again. I pulled the fuse out an took my chances for about a month...I never once carried the family or any passengers during that time, just to be safe. I don't quite know how the system works, but I put the fuse back in, just to see what would happen (quite expecting a loud bang and bag deployment)...the fault light never came on again!

air bag start up check i believe is now part of the MOT so has to be working.
the system does a self test which measures the resistance of the loom (totally separate to the car loom). If the resistance goes outside the set values then the warning light is lit.
normally disconnection of the connectors can be enough to cause an issue, also disconnecting the connectors can be enough to set the bag off as well so be warned. how do i know ? experienced it.
jeep clock springs have a reputation for failing

When working with airbags the FSMs recommend a two minute wait after disconnecting the battery before proceeding. That allows the airbag system capacitors to fully discharge so the bags won't go off.

an airbag is an explosive and is regulated as such (i.e gelignite and c4 restrictions)
They need next to nothing in charge for the system to deploy, charge being millivolts. A multimeter can set one off
if set off when placed face down they will get to the height of a two story building.
trip the system and all bags will normally be deployed, resulting in a modern car quite possibly being written off.
when working in a car on the air bag system do not have the doors closed and leave a window open, the pressure wave from a deployed steering wheel bag is enough to burst your ear drums.
the powder that is released during the deployment can cause serious skin irritations and dermatitis.
lessons learnt during testing in the late 90s

We thought about it, we did a stupid amount of investigation testing into them just after they appeared on the market, quite a lot of the results ended up as what they now call black projects where they didn't really exist.
