I'm planning on fitting an sye kit to my ZJ with an nv231. I'm just wondering what length of rear drive shaft I'm likely to need with a 5" lift. The reason for asking is I want to order the shaft at the same time, unless of course there is a standard front prop from another Jeep that will do the job?

When I got mine, the measurements they asked for was  "take it the measurements are from the back of the transfer box where the new cover bolts to. to the rear centre of uj, and also uj centre to uj centre. Why dont you buy the complete kit where you give them existing measurements and you get supplied SYE and prop.

my advise is to do it and then measure and get made.

if you need to drive it before complete just put in 4wd and you have a front drive car

Thanks guys, I've read of people fitting xj front props on the back of xj's when they have done an sye is there a similar option for the zj. I'm only asking as a used xj prop is £20 or so, a custom one is several hundred and just trying to reduce the cost a little.

Im not sure if you might need to get it lengthened for a ZJ or not but still it could save money. You also need to factor in the cost of the hack and tap SYE and the spicer adaptor to make the XJ front prop fit the flange.

What's the Spicer adaptor for? Surely the prop will just bolt to the hack and tap?

The zj prop is longer you could get I extended at prop services.
I would mesure my prop length but have an Atalas TC. So the length will be different.

The hack n tap fits a flat flange to the output shaft of the transfer case. The spicer adaptor mates the flat flange to the UJ of the double cardan joint of the prop. I can get a picture of mine when it's light if you need to see.

Oh I get you, so the fitting that goes on the cut down spline doesn't take a standard drive shaft. I was under the impression it did. Just checked and a full sye kit is just over £200 which isn't that bad, I guess I'll just buy one fit it and see where it all sits with the lift etc.
