Right, been quiet/absent for a while as been wasting my money pimping and speeding up the daily drive, however its time to return back to the Jeep money pit in my eternal quest for bankruptcy.

What the last 8 months have taught me tho is that I NEED MORE SPEED

I'm now thinkin more desert racing rather than off road trundling - either way it will let me go round ribbesford for a laugh but will also let me hammer it

So, kinda open thread where I need ideas thrown at me on how to make the Chief stupidly fast, but keeping the vibe, without killing me

The look has to remain basically the same, altho Im open to funding suspension changes etc

I'm guessing the engine will have to go tho

Sell it all and build an Ultra4 buggy....... Somewhere on the Goodwood world of speed progs I glimpsed the buggy shown racing around the field, built by Offroad Armoury, has effin huge King coil overs that let it jump and land softly also has 500 bhp and sequential gearbox........and runs 40's and beadlocks.....

Either that or the new RZR Polaris 1000 that had footage on here last year.....£20k out the box and will tackle Ribbo at 50 easy........the smaller 900 is the one I tested in Wales........effin brill!!

Nah Im in for the long term with the Chief - would be too depressin to sell it for what it would get when I know how much I have sunk in to the fucker

That stuff can cost shitloads but if you look at Jeepspeed there is a desert racing class for XJs that has been around for years and is quite achievable. Some of the ideas could be used on the Molotov. Shock travel is limited to 12" and no coilovers but they still jump and go quick.

Got to agree with Tim.....

Seven Sisters King of the Valleys stuff, and even then just ask Willo how much and how long to build. Or let's just guess and say the Italian Acerni (spelling) well they're in the Business and it was a €100,000 build and then there's the mates for pit crew and transport........are you really sure this is the  direction you want to go......

First glass of Merlot after a bollock splitting week of it......so here's my take on it.......

The way things are at the moment I reckon the flexibility is in pre 60's mot exempt stuff

Cj2/3  old Chev trucks ( 55-59 Apache) or to put it another way.......my POS used as a donor on a 50's truck would be  road legal and fun off road......job done.

Just think of it ..... No tax no MOT and maybe £100 insurance......job done.....

Everyone else - I may have missed an explanation here - I aint entering any comp etc for racing in the desert, nor have I the skills for Danny/Willo style comps, I Just wanna go FASTER

I said bankruptcy, not accumulating 3rd world debt

was lookin at superchargers for the DD but its a whole load of extra internal engine beefing up as well

looks like I need to find someone breaking a hemi then

Novak or Advance adapters can fit a hemi to a TH400 no probs

Fortunately I ran the auction via Jim b4 hitting the button seein as he will be doin the work and he kindly pointed out it was for just the inlet manifold 

£2500 for an inlet manifold

If it's the chief it's going in then you got loads of room......so go cheap and develop......


I missed out on an ex motorhome Chev 454 with th475 (butch straight cut TH400) last year.....went for £750.....
They produce 750 bhp for an outlay of less than $5k.   More if you fancy throwing more money at it....
