Hi,

Anyone ever successfully fixed a water leak in a TJ?

When it rains heavily I seem to get a couple of millimetres of water in the passenger side.

Any ideas of where to start?

Not the answer you want but eventually you'll bin the carpets and the bungs in the floor....

Yeah, maybe. Got the bung out now, but the water isn't deep enough to get to it. Hard enough to convince the Mrs to come out in it already, reckon getting rid of the carpets would be the final straw!

Is there a scuttle drain somewhere I can poke? Heater box drain?

Door Seals every time. Put some talc down next time it rains and you will see where its tracking from

Make sure the plastic door liners are still in place with plenty of that black goo!

Will do all of those. Thanks. There's no drains from the engine bay or heater that get blocked up? (Everywhere here is full of leaves).

Yep. There is a drain from the heater vent cowl that drains into th engine bay. This gets blocked wth leaves and crap. The water then backs up and finds its way into the passenger footwell.
Its a tube about an inch and a half wide, eight inches long with a flat end, drivers side just to the side of the engine. If you need a new tube, I think I have a couple in my garage.

Reckon door seals are one culprit tho...

No joy finding it yet- although i havnt had a chance to sit in and run a hose over the top.

I do know that its 'just' a leak coming in- as its been bone dry for the last couple of weeks, it sat for 2x days during a large downpour and its now sodden again.

No you can see it from the top with the bonnet open. Too dark now or I would have taken a pic for you.

Here is a picture of it. Ignore the battery position as this is a LHD vehicle.
The drain is in the same place shown though on a RHD

Great, thanks. Think I've tracked it down to a door seal that needed re-sitting, but really appreciate the picture.

It's probably worth checking that drain as well. They get blocked very easily with leaves from the top and mud and crap from the bottom.

Just for I fixed one on my old tj, it was the top roof seal where it meets the corner of the screen by the passenger door frame. It would only leak if the rain was coming down in the correct direction. It was a nightmare to find.

Exactly same as mine but was on the drivers side ... Black silicone sealer sorted it.
