Essential spares

Guys

I used to keep a stock of spares for my land rover, having changed to Jeep I have nothing in the way of spare parts for her, can you suggest any essential spares I should keep a stock of??

Serpentine belt - carry it with you, coz none of the recovery services will have 'em.

You will not need a garage full off spares for you Wrangler, like you would have had to have with your Land Rover because Jeep’s don’t rust like a Land Rover’s. Believe me, I am an ex Defender owner.  Keep a good grease gun on the go, and change all the oil’s often but apart from that just enjoy the life style. I have had to change UJ’s and front wheel bearing’s but I trial my Tj and run big tyres so I expect them to need changing. As for your mates taking the piss, they are only jealous! (Right Dave?)

Thanks Wrangler, I suspect your right as 2 of them are already looking for a Wrangler of their own!!

There doesn't seem to be a Haynes Manual for the later TJ's?? I'm guessing Haynes will think it's not needed until the model is 3ish years old?? I sent away for a catalogue from ASP Eberle in Germany, this has loads of exploded techy drawings, brill for free and not bad prices for spares either!!

Spare UJs, sepentine belt, and a crank position sensor.
Can of WD40, zip ties, duct tape, and a big hammer!

have a bodgit box in the truck for a bit of bush mechanics,

duck tape, wd40, chemical metal, cable ties, radiator leak stuff like Forte, hose repair kit, spare fuel line, instant gasket

if you get talking to some of the chaps that have been doing off roading for a long while they are a font of knowledge when it comes to getting you home!!

almost forgot, a plastic sheet to lay on the floor to stop getting too dirty in the swamp that you will no doubt breakdown in and some baby wipes for the clean up afterwards!!

Can’t agree more about the plastic sheet, reminds me of a trip to Wales changing a front UJ joint in the rain lying down on a wet peace of carpet. Not nice! :roll:
