AX15 conversion
« on: April 16, 2016, 04:05:54 PM »

Hi all
Can someone confirm if an AX 15 can be converted from an electrical to mechanical speedo? Is it as simple as removing the electronic sensor and gear and replacing with a mechanical one. If so does anyone know where I may be able to find one?

Thanks in advance
Matt

Yes I have one on the 1 Tonne.......from before it came off the road.....

I think it came from Novak and screws into the Dana 300 in my case and then the normal gubbins screws and connects to that..... It got the YJ speedo working ......

Or you could what I did eventually and remote mount a mechanical CJ speedo and buy a cable and go old school......worked well and was accurate up to about 50....

There are also some GPS application speedos with miles meters on the market .....

Thank you sir. Can I assume then that they are not a standard bit of kit from the manufacturer as you got yours from Novak?
I have a feeling finding one may be an issue.. I have an offer of some new aftermarket gauges but they come with a mechanical speedo, which may now not be cost effective / beneficial to do

regards
Matt

Pre 93 XJs and YJs had mechanical speedos.
