KJ CRD diesel filling problem
« on: June 10, 2016, 11:19:18 AM »

We can only fill wifeys KJ at 1/2 speed or less, full pull on the pump trigger just causes the filler to click reset and cut out. Are there any issues that would cause theis? Maybe blocked vent or something from the tank? (its a one of the last KJs, '07 plate) Taking 5mins to fill the tank is getting annoying.

Try moving the nozzle a tad further out of the tank spout

Just to state the obvious, it happens at all filling stations, position of nozzle makes no difference (upside down, side ways, in 1/2 out, shake it all about) it is the flow in causing the issue, so I am assuming an issue with either a blocked/kinked filler hose or the same with the vent pipe?

Do explain  how you can kink a filler hose? And if there was a blockage foreign bodies would be getting into the fuel injection system or hitting the fuel filter causing running issues

It won't make you feel any better, but my '03 KJ had the same issue...I just learned to put up with it.  :icon_toilet:

Serious question...is there any difference between a petrol and a diesel fuel filler opening thingy?  In OZ and over here, there is a big difference between the diameter of the fuel nozzles (you could never put diesel in a petrol car...unless you used a garden hose)...our diesel nozzles are almost twice the size!

Just wondering.

There is a problem with the fuel tank breather hose which gets blocked and prevents fill up. I have heard about this before well worth some research

sensor on the filler gun is the issue. get the same problem when filling the cj with petrol. It appears the garages can change the fill rate on the pumps. so too fast and the neck fills up quickly causing the over fill detectection
