After a failed attempt to nick my TJ Saturday night I now need a drivers door lock, to save messing about I was going to get one from a main dealer tomorrow , hopefully I can find one in Kent, I may then fit a removable steering wheel set up, my problem will be with the air bag light, any suggestions?

Fucking scumbags.

The airbag control module can be fooled into thinking the airbag is there by putting a resistor across the airbag wires. I'll find the thread on Jeepforum it was discussed on and get the value for you.

Got this working a couple of weeks ago. No Airbags and no airbag diagnostic lights.
Just added a resistor between the two airbag wires per side.
Resistance value per airbag used was 2.7 Ohm 1/2 Watt Resistor 5%.
Airbag system (ACM) was fine with those resistors on driver's and passenger's sides and didn't give me any issues.
Came up fine! No problems!

I believe any value below 5 Ohms would be fine, but 2.7 worked for me!

Cheers Jonny Jeep ( great name ) brilliant info, that's the route I'm going, classic style steering wheel with a quick release hub, that should stop 'em, just realised they also broke the lock on the centre consul to nick my recovery straps..... The fucking idiots didn't even realise it was already unlocked!!!!!!

Great idea, but an obviously missing airbag is an MoT failure.

A '98 TJ is impossible to steal without the key unless you're going to tow it away anyway.

Is that correct about the MOT fail, I was under the impression that air bags aren't compuslsory, Caterhams and TVR's don't have them.

Mike's an MOT tester, so I would say yes.

I would imagine it is if the vehicle is fitted with airbags they have to remain and of course not have any warning lights showing they are faulty.

Land Rover couldn't be bothered to fit airbags and had to stop selling them in the US...

I pulled my airbags years ago and removed the dash light at the same time. Never had an issue with the Mot's. I think if there is no light there is no fault.

The space where the passenger air bag was located became a home to nice electronics instead.
