4.0 clutch on 258 flywheel

As above does anyone know if a 4.0 xj clutch will fit an old fashion amc flywheel before I go buy one to check?
I have a flywheel from a4.2 (258) cj and I want to put different clutch on and not in a rush to buy a replacement flywheel from a 4.0 if can help it

It seems from t'internet that the pre AMC flywheel has a different depth from the starter as the AMC on 4.2/4.0. The starter has to be matched to the flywheel apparently. Also, if it's going into a 4.0L XJ, the flywheel won't have the correct timing indents for the OBDII ignition.

Sorry should clarify.
In the ongoing saga of mating my 360 up to ax15 and Dana 300 there is now concerns regarding the correct clutch plate as I'm doing something a lot of people on line can't agree on.
In essence the 360 flywheel should stay with the engine however this can't happen as it won't fit to the ax15 bellhouse therefore the amc clutch and plate I have are also potentially redundant.
The conversions done previously used a 304 or a 258 flywheel and then kept the clutch however as the 304, 258 and 4.0 all share a 13.85 flywheel size logic would dictate I could utilise either of these as long as bolt pattern the same
What I need to know is can a 4.0 clutch and plate fit onto an amc flywheel as this would update my clutch and give the correct contact point for the bearing
If not I am digging out more cash for a 4.0 flywheel from USA to change the whole set up
This raises questions of externally balancing flywheels but I'll leave that for now

Well that is the plan but no one seems to have a used flywheel or a 4.0 clutch around as more autos out there than manuals
I suspect I will end up buying a new set up and mounting it as jim has tried the 4.0 flex plate up to it and it matches bolt position so may be even more expense but only doing this once.
Would be easier if clutch plate sits to amc flywheel but doesn't look promising

Isn't the flywheel the ame for the auto and manual on the 4lt, with the only difference being one has a torque converter bolted to it instead of a clutch assembly?
is the 2.5 clutch the same size physically or smaller?

The flywheel is different unfortunately and we have mocked up the flexolate to check for sizes and hence our various options on whether we go all new 4.0 or stick with amc and drill it
The clutch for the 2.5 is approx 1 and half inch smaller and the 4.0, 258 and 360 flywheel is the same size but has ring gear approx half inch closer to engine therefore the flywheel will determine type of starter I buy as well.
Having a mock up next week with new gearbox and hydraulic clutch to check clearances so guess I'll find out whether I have to spend a lot of cash or a sh!tload of cash.
I suspect the latter with a jeep
