I have just started to have problems with the heater in our 54 plated Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ series.
Some days its fine then it blows cold despite being set on Hi.
Tonight to get warm air you set in for Lo -cold and it gets hot air ok  when you set it for warmer it gets colder!
Anyone got any ideas as to where to start looking ?

It sounds like the blend door issue that WJs are notorious for. I'm sure others will be along shortly with more info/advice!

sounds like blend doors, look on wjjeeps for the button presses to run the diagnostic on the hvac. May happen to have an unused blend door kit in the garage going spare....

If the heater controls work in reverse it's usually, bizarrely, caused by a broken wire in the drivers door harness in the usual place. peel the rubber sheath back in the door shut and firmly pull each individual wire in turn. Don't be surprised if more than one break.

You were right Mike broken door wire - sorted when I took it in for it's MoT thanks great forum saved me a few quid!
