Stick on interior mirror recommendations?
« on: May 25, 2018, 01:13:50 PM »

I need an interior mirror - and have tried 2  different "suction cup" mirrors that vibrate like mad even on smooth roads and fall off overnight no matter what you do to prepare the surfaces etc.

I suspect the answer is a "stick on" mirror instead, using a proper glass bonding pad (which I can source from my local motor factor...).

Problem is, I have not actually got a mirror to do it with,,,

I cant find anything remotely suitable on Amazon, so I thought maybe a scrapyard?

Any suggestions for a good size stick on mirror, maybe even "dipping", suitable for a CJ7?

I have my original TJ interior mirror still about somewhere since I fitted a compass temp mirror, but you'd need a mount for it on your windscreen. Mirror is yours if you want it. I might even be able to make such a mount in work. I'd have to dig the mirror out to have something to work to.

Edit: regarding glue I tried mirror glues and patches in the car I had before the TJ but the mirror was so stiff anytime anybody attempted to move it it ripped off again. Araldite was the permanent fix. Having said that... I bought some 3M VHB pads a while ago and might have one or two about somewhere. I'm sure they'd do but I'd have to try and find them.

Rugged Ridge Kit that i fitted, the metal button sticks like poop to a blanket with the supplied glue (its now an integral part of the screen!) and then the mirror just slides over.
Not cheap but it does work and it dips i think, never had to use that facility though!

Linked mirror looks just like my old one. I think I can make a button easily enough.

Edit: made a windscreen button but haven't found VHB pads yet. Yours for a fiver posted and a sticky pad if I can find them. If not you can get them for 99p on fleabay and they stick like fuck.
