getting through an MOT on gas
« on: June 16, 2006, 12:17:55 PM »

Hi guys the problem i'm tyring to get around is the XJ has now failed the mot twice on emmisions, i've already replaced the o2 sensor but that didn't work, also went to pickup a new ecu today but the stupid W*****s bust it in half getting off. So i'm stuffed. what I was wondering is would the old girl pass on gas if carefully tuned on a gas analyser, i'm having to run it open loop because i belive the ecu is buggering up the o2 sensor output.

I had my tester do the emmissions on LPG because I was interested to see the levels. He had no problem with doing it and the emissions were very low.

There was a setting on his machine specifically for LPG - don't know if that makes a difference?

Mine is always tested on gas, cause it doesent have a cat.  The tester has the option of picking the fuel, so just tell him your running on LPG.  Never had a problem with MOTS and running on gas

The old girl went through on saturday. A secondhand ECU did the trick. £30 off ebay! Well Chuffed.
