Bonnet vents?

I`ve been thinking of fitting bonnet vents on my XJ in an attempt to aid cooling seeing as my grill is going to be partially covered by spots in the very near future. Asides from having the guts to cut holes in my bonnet is there anything else I need to know before I consider butchering my truck?

Should all CJs have the vent in the panel between the screen and bonnet?

Coz mine aint.  :shock:
