I spoke to a Jeep breaker today. Really nice guy.

Was talking about the clutch cylinder and he said to me. What's your rear axle like. to which I said Fine!

He then said. Can I suggest you change your tyres.
Why!
Because I have 7 jeeps here and all bar one have had the axles sold where the owners have run the rear tyres with odd depth trads on the rear axle. A mm makes all the difference to the way the axles last.

I thanked him and said I would order slave cylinder later (which I forgot to do).

Now I know these Jeeps are posi rear axles (Mine has new additive) but are they so weak that tyre tread depth can make such a difference! :shock:

it realy makes a difference with a detroin in the back but with just the lsd i cant see it being that crucial. ya should always try and swap yer tyres about anyway to keep the wear rate even. be interestin to know about this one. 8)

Only thing with a Trac-Loc is that if you have one worn and one good tyre on that axle, the clutches are continually grinding away even when you are running in a straight line because the worn tyre will rotate faster than the good one, so hypothetically it can shorten it's life.
