Rack mounted spots

Hi there.

Having mounted four fog's on the roof rack, Im now faced with the problem of running the cable into the vehicle. Are there any methods to do this, as Im not particularly keen on drilling through the roof!

Any help would be much appreciated.

you could run the wire down the front leg of the roofrack and feed it through the top of the door A pillar. run it under the door seal at an angle then under the inner A pillar plastic trim then out just by the bonnet pull. the door should then close without any problems. easiest way without drilling the roof.

the problem with drilling the roof is, using a rubber grommet the at is small yet big enough for the wire through the roof. then it's sealing it. inside it's the fun job of removing part of the roof liner then fitting it back into place which can be a pain.
 then if you remove them your left with some holes in the roof.
running a wire through the door closure wont be a problem at all. at least when you remove the roof rack it's a matter of removing the cable. A good point is to put a connector just under the inside a pillar trim so if you need to remove them it's just a matter of taking the joint apart until the next time you put them back on

Thanks Dave.

Decided against drilling the roof. Instead, took the cable behind the top corner door rubber (passenger side, as this door is used less), along the window behind the trim (removed grab handle), and then down to the underside of the dash board. And hay presto, the cable appears in the passenger side foot well!!

Also took your advice and put a connector just inside, in case the roof rack does have to be removed at some point in the future.

Next job is to wire the lights, switch, and relay…..but that’s for another day (preferably when its not raining!!).

Can't be there for bonfire night, I was really looking forward to it.
Say hi to everyone for us, We probably won't be down untill next season now.

BTW I don't suppose you could send me some copies of the photo's you got from the weekend in october?

PS: Im going out there today (sun) for a 'Pay & Play' day. Will be going with a Suzuki Jimney and a lightweight landrover....should be fun (been raining too)! I can see my recovery rope being used!
