Front Differential Bearings

It's been suggested that the bearings on my front diff (stock ZJ) are on the way out. I can't find any reference to them in the Haynes manual (not really surprising in itself). What's involved in changing them? Is it a job that can be done at home?

yes, you can do this at home. takes a couple of hours. loads of writeups on the web. just google 'changing jeep front wheel bearings'.

So is it the hub bearings they mean when they said diff bearing? I thought they were talking about something else. I've done the hubs before on my XJ, it was a fairly easy job.

It could be diff carrier bearings. Not such an easy job!

You are right, i misread it. Diff bearings are lot more work. It can be done at home, but you should be a fairly good mech before taking this on.
