I've got play in the f o/s UJ, whats the best plan of action, new or used? The guys at Jeep said I might have problems replacing it, might need drive shaft aswell, is this the case? Cheers in advance guys.

I'd always go with new, upgrade to greasable too. Give lighthouse a bell and ask their opinion on replacing drive shaft too.

I replaced both front UJs on the wifes '94 XJ over a weekend without a problem.
New parts were sourced from Lighthouse Jeep, didn't cost a fortune and arrived within a day or so.
Just be careful not to push any crap back up the axle tube past the seal on reassembly.
From my point of view the only reason for replacing the driveshaft would be if the journals were scored or it was missing any splines, in which case the diff would need a good examination also.
