Liftgate switch?
«
on:

Ive just bought a '97 Grand 4.0, its showing the liftgate open and a rear light failure on the screen, all lights are working and the liftgate is shut, where is the switch on the liftgate? And what should I do about the rear lamp failure? Any help is greatly apreciated.

The switch is incorporated in the tailgate latch assembly. The rear lamp failure will show if all 3 of the bulbs in the high level aren't working. Are you sure you've checked them all?

It turned out to be one of the high level brake lights, I stripped the trim on the liftgate and disconnected the liftgate sensor, after I did this the alarm and the visual warning stopped but amazingly the rear wiper I thought was knackered started working again, I reconnected it and the wiper motor stopped, wierd! Ive taped it up and everything works fine.
