Mud tyres
« on: November 13, 2007, 07:06:01 PM »

I'm looking to get some new 31" tyres for the XJ, don't want to spend too much & don't mind remoulds as it will only be used for laning & p&p. I want some really agressive ones, what would everyone recomend? What do you think of the Simex copies?

why do you want really aggressive ones for green laning? if you go green laning at all you should always tread lightly. for value try some kumo muds or some greenway or colway or the recip muds. 8)

:imwitstupid:

Simex and Grizzly claw tyres just destroy the countryside, doing nobody any favours. Lanes that require such tyres shouldn't be open. Grizzlys also lose lugs very easily.

If you're on a budget, then colways, or Bronco do some much more sensible remoulds for cheap.

my point was in no way a dig by the way. it is sometimes easy to get carried away on lanes with a tooled up truck and cause more damage than we should. if ya go megga aggressive with yer tyres just go light on the pedal 8)

Does anyone have any thoughts on greenway anacondas? What are they like offroad/on road? Are they legal on a cherokee, with relation to speed ratings etc? Thanks in advance.

After all the good things I've read about Recip Trails, I've just ordered a set, so fingers crossed I've made the right choice.

Where did you order the Recips from?  I've been trying to find somebody that supplies them but they seemed to dry up with Colway & Direct tyres going :(

Thanks for that - I have checked this site out for tyres before and they have only just put them on their list - says they are available Feb 08 for the 31's.

I have Insa Sahara's on now - pretty good tyre and a lot quieter than I thought - might be better when I do both front hubs   (they are on order)

my ZG is on insa mountains and they are fantastic in all but gloopy mud where they are adequate. the rangie is going on simex's as its used for competitions as the recips are crap on side slopes and roundabouts (read lethal for crap).
watch the speed ratings as the recips are illigal on the rangie as they are only rated for 93mph and the anacondas are less than that, but that might have changed as ive had the recips for 2 years
