WJ clicking
« on: December 07, 2007, 09:35:54 PM »

Probably one for Dr mike but throwing it out,
a mate of mine has just bought a wj 02 crd
it has started making a clicking on full lock going forwards and back,
thought it was a cv, so changed both side to be on safe side,
clicking still there, still sound like a cv, fine in a staight line only happens on full lock.

cheers Darren :?

When was the front diff oil changed? Sometimes old or improper oil cause the vari-lok clutches to engage, which may also make clicking sound.
Unlikely, but worth checking.

Do WJ`s have a CV joint on front,as my guess would be that.Had the very same problem with a Toyota Landcruiser i had, only ever did it on full lock

It has CV's, but as DarrenR mentioned, he changed both, so that's not it.
Still voting for oil/vari-lok problem.

Or the driveshaft CV- in turns it's under more load than on straight.
The last bet would be the t-case. Check oil there.
