Diff gone bang.
« on: January 05, 2008, 11:32:58 AM »

Well after a couple of months of trouble free motoring :o ,the diff decided it had enough last night. It's amazing how far you can slide when the back axle locks up at 30mph!!!!.I took the diff cover of this morn and once i had fought my way thru all the bits of metal ie x2 spider gears and sheared pins ,god knows where the roll pins are!I think its time to start calling the breakers.
question though,is the cherry 4.0 axle the same(no LSD)?

A Cherokee axle will not fit. The spring mounts are the wrong way up. The internals will interchange however but you need the right final drive ratio.

best to look for a breaker yj i would guess. is your carier fooked or saveable? the reason i ask is that you might try mik stansfield at rednex for the parts from a truck that has been re-geared.
