i cant believe people are still buying these.
http://www.4wd.com/search.aspx?PN=1&word=solid
heavy duty diff covers with a fill plug so close to the top of the pumpkin. they are a bad idea as far as i can see. they over fill the axle with oil therefore there is less room for the oil to cool and it will also kill the oil seals quicker. i still aint seen anyone damage their diff covers enough to cause problems on a jeep. have you?

The reason the plug is higher is that if you have tilted your pinion up to correct the driveshaft angle, the filler hole ends up too low to get the correct oil level to keep the pinion bearings lubricated. Just because the plug is higher up, doesn't mean you have to overfill the axle, just measure what you're putting in.

this might not be the best place to bring this up , but since your also a member of the4x4network.com Dave at Northridge is offering a 5% discount to all members of the4x4network. All you have to do is mention your a member and He'll hook you up.
I am not sure of his shipping rates to over there, but if you get hassled, I can kidnap his Jeep till its resolved

i see what ya say mike but i just think people will fill em up to the hole and even with the diff nosed up surely thetas too much oil? the oil slinger or the gears throw oil at the pinion bearings don't they? i will stick to the guarded ones that i made although I've never dented mine nor have i seen anyone damage theirs enough to cause a problem. apart from when cleggy blew his truetrax to bits
they just seem to be one of those things people buy for the sake of it if ya know what i mean

i personally have foooked many a diff hat......learned the lesson the hard way, and it's not just me, ive seen it done also..........michael jackson (god bless his soul)
and it's true about the angle. you need to measure the quantity for the axle.
rockcrusher/solid are very very tough.
