CB aerial mount on a 98 grand cherokee
« on: March 18, 2008, 12:07:39 AM »

ok so picked up a CB the other day for when i go greenlaning and stuff but wondering where the best place is for mounting the aerial. I quite like the rear light mounts you can get for the wranglers....are these available for the uk. I would prefer a permanent mount as apposed to a magmount but am pretty new to this stuff.

Has anyone tried the glass mount aerials?? are they any good. If anyone has any pics of CB aerials on thier Pre 99 Grands could they post please so i can see my options?

Cheers

Use a magmount. They have enough give so that when a tree jumps out and attacks your aerial it will just pull off the mount and not bend the bodywork or snap the mount.

but you do have to stop when it has been pulled off by a branch and is dragging behind the truck

Problem is that when the branch hits the "springy bit" or the mount, it bends a body panel.

make sure the hole is on the back of the truck, mines to the side of the tailgate and alls well so far (TJ)

I also use a right angle pivot on a dv mount so if it gets a big hit it will fold down

Only problem with those light mounts, what if they bend?, they would punch a hole straight thru the light cluster, posibly
