admittedly 'never' is a bit sweeping but so is 'bollocks', absolute fact in my experience that some garages ALWAYS manage to find something that needs repairing (brake shoes being a favourite)

phew, last time i had issues with test they clocked the details on the pc and then checked the lights 50mins later or so, steering and finished with the horn.... i had to get someone else check it...and they had wired up my tow electrics wrong...glad its sorted Clayt

No....... we don't have a roller brake tester, we use a plate brake tester which has 4 sliding plates, so all 4 brakes are tested at the same time.

Selecting neutral on some vehicles doesn't mean they are in neutral, suzuki sj's for instance, neutral transfer box is actually 4wd neutral?

Modern roller brake testers are fine with the majority of 4wds, the information comes up on the computer when starting a test to say whether they can be roller tested or not.

Thanks for that info,  it's that after my mot last year the transmission felt strange for a few weeks.........

bollocks!!! there are loads of dodgy garages out there,and tons of people claiming to be mechanics when the e only just fitters,but i here there going to shake the trade up.

ok your a honest firm,but you know there loads out there just trying to screw people.

my sister inlaw had a ford,took extended warrenty,warrenty was coming to a end,car went in for final check,report said driver seat running was worn,car was 3 years old,she was only driver,seat was never moved,she complained to dealer say the would take it up with ford as it was going to cost £180 to replace and not covered by warrenty,they said they would do it for free when we said we would complain,i smelled a rat,marked the driver seat runner with dabs of primer,car goes in,we collect car next day,got keys,went to car and the seat runner had not been changed out,went back to the office,and they shat there selfs when we told them,threated to complain to ford again,the next day  she had the biggest punch of flowers i have seen sent to here house from dealer saying ther had got her car mixed up with another with similar reg,ballocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well played asylum, you are a hero. my isuzu failed on headlights being to low, strange this as it has electric load leveling headlights and i had checked it in my mates garage , and yes they had moved the setting , when i queried it , they then checked it again and  it was fine ,pain was it also failed on a abs wheel sensor that cost £148 plus vat just for part . i took it home had a look and it was the wiring had parted , fixed it took it back and it passed. i then sold it on and bought a xj and pocketed the extra cash. i was a AA patrol for 13 years and know some garages do try it on a bit, but its difficult with MOT tests, you have to have them , best way is to go by word of mouth. amyway well done for the result buddy :icon_super
