XJ noob-lift advice

Just got an Xj given to me thats worth a bit of work.  I've got a lot to do underneath, new brake pipes and anti rollbar bushes exhaust and other bit's.  So while it up in the air as the springs are saggy what's the reccomendation for a lift kit?  I'm going to be 95% on road and still want to use the power for A road overtakes not bothered about massive lift just 2-2.5 inches what do you reccomend should I even bother and just stick to new stock bit's.

Price is a consideration don't want budget but not got an open cheque.

Who and where to start is what I'd like to know please.

XJ diesel rear springs for sure

make sure you source a tranny case skid plate and front and rear recovery points..XJ dudes will be alomg in a while with more info for sure

the diesel springs (rear) are only 1" higher than the std petrol ones.

OME, the best, have them on mine, comfy, flex well and aren't soggy on the road

For decent overtaking, it's the tyre size that's an issue. 31s are a bit big and mess the gearing too much. 235s are OK though. 2" of lift would look ok on 235s.

1-2" of lift and 235s would be good. Definitely get a transfer case skid plate if you are going to offroad (plus recovery points).

Old Man Emu is very good and I miss the comfort of it now I've gone bigger. Alternatively you could go for diesel springs. As standard they are only 1" higher than petrol ones but as yours are sagged they'll probably lift yours up 2-3".

I'd suggest avoiding Pro-comp, their rear springs have issues  :wink:

I shall price up some OME then.

As for wheel/tyre combo I have a spare set off the other jeep and I was going to fit some offroad tyres to those and swap on the odd day that I'd go out.

Whose the best OME dealer in the UK for Jeep stuff?

good thing about 235's is you can flex the rear with standard bump stops and not remove the arches

have a look at the prices of a rubicon express lift kit for comparison. cant fault mine, i have a set of skyjacker dampers all round yes they work but they creak like hell which is annoying. will be swapping to the RE twin wall dampers when funds allow
