Hi
I am new here so I am sorry if i go over previous ground.
I am buying a late 2005 wrangler sahara auto which has had a professional LPG conversion. I have been searching the net for the spec and am a little confused.
Is it a 4.o L straight 6 engine or a 4.2 L something else?
I will not be getting it untill August but need to find out all I can before.
I will be looking at doing a lift on it and hope someone may be able to advise me which way to go, and where to get the stuff.
It is a hard top and I will be looking to fit a soft top. Again, any advise on which one and where from would be great.
Looking forward to August

It will be a 4.0 litre, sorry cant help on lpg as dont run that myself.
i would run it stock for a while with the addition of 31's, may have to adjust the steering stops but they will fit
if you are serious and want to off road more then small lift(2") with the 31's, some disconects for the front sway bar and you will get most places.
Anything more and its major ££££££
look at getting your stuff from the states, 4WD hardware or Quadratec are reliable

the 4.2 engine was fitted to the older models yours will be a straight six along the centre line of the car.
sawp the tyres for some all terrains or mud terrains (slightly more road noise) and have a body lift which is cheaper than a suspension lift. Add some front anti roll bar disconnects and see how you get on. the wrangler will go more places than you think.

Thanks very much.
I am now going to seem really dim. But what are "disconects"?
I am sure I will run it as it is for a while. At least untill the tyres wear out. But I need to get to know what is what. Do you ever have meets near Herts. probably the best way for me to catch up and learn?

disconnects are for the front roll bar...........keep the lift under two inches after that much moooolar is required.

For offroad use, you'll be wanting to disconnect the front anti-roll bar (or swaybar) as it will stop your front axle from getting too much articulation.
The key to grip is keeping all four wheels on the ground. More articulation means more chance of getting more grip. Driving on the road with the anti-roll bar disconnected is kind of illegal, but off the public highway you can do it. Disconnects are a quick way of connecting and disconnecting your axle from the anti-roll bar.

Sounds great. I have not been green laneing since I had my CJ7. 15 years ago. I am in WGC. I am not sure what to do with the Wrangler yet, so am open to all suggestions. Just meeting someone who knows would be good.
I will keep you posted as to when I get it.

Keep it simple to start. Second hand muds 31s on your rims 1" body lift to clear. Then a lift to 2' or so.
If you want to PM for info me I run LPG in a YJ and have a set of 2and half inch lift springs with new poly bushes that I could sell you that only have about 1000 miles on them. £250 OK?
have fun and start mods slowly that way you wont roger your wallet.
it has taken most of us up to ten years to get to the totally gonzo stage, let alone the beer vouchers.
Leafers rock and are cheaper than TJs to mod IMHO. (That'll get em going!)

Thanks for your advice. I am afraid that it did read a bit like a Jamie Oliver recipie to me. Meaning that I am not sure what you are talking about. 31s I do understand. Did not know they would fit on my rims.
I think the lift is fairly important as my LPG filler is at the rear low down. I am worried that it may get broke in steep hollows??? Is mine a YJ or TJ? Late 2005 sahara.
I am on a very steep learning curve, and am loving it.
Thank you all for your help and advice. August seems sooo far away.

If it has leaf springs its a YJ
You can re-site your LPG filler as it is on a flexy pipe. Just be careful
