Does it happen in gear and driving or when sitting in park/neutral?
What do you mean? Does the engine cough and splutter and feel likes its going to go off?

Check your lambda sensor, had a similar problem on my audi if i accelerated hard then backed off then tried again it felt as if it was running out of fuel I'd have to wait till it picked up, had it tested at the bosch garage running very very lean lambda knackerd...just a thought...cya
