Chrysler 300c wheels are 5x115 which when converted from 4.5 inches is 114.3.  Anyone tried them does that .7 of a mill matter?

Probably kinda fit, but more importantly, 300c has 18" and larger wheels. On an XJ, that would blow up the gay-o-meter.

I know some of you guys aren't at ease with their wheelality and these wheelaphobic comments just show that wheel envy is rife on this forum.  You just keep reminding yourselves it's not the size that counts it's what you do with it.

I can't see the problem it's only for on the road I'm going to sort out some other tyres for the weekends out but once you but a lift in 15 inch with road tyres are gonna get lost in those arches just thought it'd fill em out nicely and the wider lower tyres might stop some roll.

when you lift your truck it will alter the driving characteristics, you will have a higher centre of gravity and it will drive nothing like it does now. Even if you fit big wheels and skinny tyres it will not handle the same and if you try to, you will get caught out.

Why not fit bigger tyres on 15" rims, that will fit your arches. Many of us run MT's or AT's all the time and as long as you drive within their limits, they are fine.

I think I'm being misunderstood with my reasoning.  I'm not a newbie XJ owner I had a '93 as a daily drive for about four years ( bear in mind this one had reverse bow springs and no rear shocks) I've got a fairly good idea of how a Jeep handles on the road.

All I'm trying to do is make it handle (on the road) the best a '99 XJ will.

My offroad use will be about four or five weekends a year and a quick wheel change isn't really a problem for me plus I've got three sets of 15" wheels I can use for that.

So whilst I know it won't handle like a sports car (if I did I'd be lowering it not lifting it) would it handle better than an XJ with 15 inchers and dual use tyres.

There are plenty of RR sports and L200 warriors about with big 20" alloys and ultra low profile road tyres so I suppose there's nothing to stop you putting some bling alloys on a cherokee but the bodywork would have to be absolute mint or it would look just plain stupid. Personally I don't think any 4x4 looks good with big alloys and road tyres, I prefer the look of lots of rubber but lets not go there  :lol:

Be careful what springs you fit if you are going to lift it and then fit larger wheels and tyres with less sidewall height. Hards springs and less tyre height would be bone-shaking.

I went up to 16inch wheels for the same kind of reason you are aiming for but that's only so the 33" tyres have the same sidewall height as 31s, definitely not low profile
