XJ front disc identification & auto box filter change?

I need to get new front discs and pads for my XJ.  Its a 99.  I've been advised what to look for to identify which discs I need - either flat end for cast or round end for tin.

What I'm not sure about is what I'm actually looking for exactly.  I'm assuming I'm looking at the centre part that goes over the hub and flush to the wheel? The edge of that central part is either going to be flat or rounded?

Has anyone got a pic of the discs?

2nd Q.  My Jeep is being MOT'd and serviced belt, oil, filters etc but am I right that you shouldn't change the box filter?  I had planned to do this because when we first bought it the box had had the wrong oil put in or had not been topped up because it was all but empty (we put 4L to get it over the line!) that was 6 months and 5K ago so I think we got away with it.

Call Lighthouse Jeep, I got some disc's/pads just last week.  Good price, very good quality (made in USA).  He'll sell ya the right parts.

I spoke to them today.  The chap asked me to check the discs and he did explain it to me but I'm not 100%.

Pretty sure I know what I'm after so will have to check tonight when I get home.

Auto box filter should be changed every 100k miles

As for the disks, they changed the length of the wheel studs at the same time, can't remember the lengths but I believe the early ones have shorter studs, ask lighthouse for the lengths, it will then tell you which disks you need

Transmission oil and filter on an XJ is every 30000 miles.

Thanks all.

I ordered the 2 piece discs in the end.  Although I didn't take the wheel off to check I can see through the lattice that its the older type.  Plus the registration date is early September 99 so even more likely to have the older disc setup.

Its only done 70K and I'm sure in the history the fluid was changed a few years ago and its not done too many miles over the recent years - wonder why :)   I also had to put 4L when I first got it.  Not quite sure how that came about.

Starting on Tuesday next. Finally get my diesel springs and pucks on too :)
