Hi all for the last year I've had a good clunk coming from the rear driver side upon take off.
Its now been joined by a creaking noise when on uneven surfaces.

Had the back end up on stands; axle etc seemed fine & tried every bush etc with a pry bar & couldn't locate it.
We found that the bolt holes on the rear drums (100k) are now elongated with a burr up, so that there is a few degrees of play when on the studs. Causing a knock when they engage.
Could this be the clunk? I wouldve thought the wheel was clamping the drum down though so it couldn't move?
Incidentally a wheel nut wound loose on the same side?

Any ideas?
PS wheres best to get new drums; L'house want £51 a pc + vat etc..

Is the backplate tight onto the axle, if this is loose then when the brakes are applied would move.

Your right about the drums, they should be clamped when the wheel is tight.

Maybe it's time to put rear discs on.
