It’s the article in the last link which is the most interesting. It sounds like Mopar are on the eve of launching a kit to install a diesel into a TJ. I hate to think of how much it will cost though!

Quote
The wait is almost over! Jeep Performance, a division of Mopar Performance, is working on a stand-alone diesel engine swap kit to drop the 2.8 diesel that first appeared in the Jeep Liberty into your TJ, YJ, CJ, or? While we'll have more details (and maybe a photo or two) after Jeep Safari in Moab, this is the real deal and is going to happen.

Everything needed to install the diesel mill into a Jeep will come with the kit - including a stand-alone wiring harness and non-EGR motor! You may have heard that some Liberty diesels had problems that were caused by a malfunctioning Exhaust Gas Recirculation system. The Jeep Performance diesel swap kit's 2.8 diesel doesn't have the troublesome EGR, so expect it to be problem-free.

Hi everyone ... hope you are all well x

I'm back on this bloody diesel engine thing. With LPG having gone up to 79p We didn't think it was worth converting the Tj. BUT we still cant afford to run it as we would like to, and keep the old bugger maintained.

I know some of you will be saying tough if you can't afford it ... get rid, but we do enjoy it.

So here I am again asking if anyone has managed to do this in this country because I have different reactions from different mechanics :017:

Some say OMG it is impossible and others say yeh no problem at all changing to diesel is a piece of piss.

:jpshakehead: i don't know which ones to believe... If anyone up there can do it for a reasonable cost we would even bring it up there to someone who knows what they are doing.    :sign0085:

It's a case of economics - go LPG the cost is verified and can be budgeted for break even point!!

if you want to see how hard it is to swap in a diesel , keep an eye out for the tj that keeps popping up on ebay, engine fitment is not a problem  but and its a major but, the wiring is an electricians nightmare.Plus depending on the age you will have to find a diesel the same age or newer than your jeep.
The next and relevant new hurdle is, as jeep never produced a tj diesel, you could fall foul of the new legislation regarding engine swaps so as all have said about it above go for a multipoint LPG installation.
