I have a friend

Honest

Ok an aquaintance

(who is not on line therwise he would join the forum)

who has a problem with his 2.7 2002 CRD Grand Cherokee (merc engine)

The engine managment light is on and it occasionaly loses power

If he stops and turns the ignition off and back on again it is ok for the next 20 miles.

This happens when the jeep is ususally under load.ie towing.

The jeep stealers reckon it might be (they still dont know) the injectors.

The starting price for this is £500

Any ideas

It needs scanning for faults with the dealer kit. There are sometimes issues with the communication between the mercedes transmission, engine and the Jeep pcm which can cause these symptomes.

Dave,

These symptoms were my intro to Birties. MIL light on + limp home mode.  Did not happen under load though but intermittent and very annoying
to comute in limp-home mode @ 25-30 Mph. max with a queue a mile long behind you  :icon_rolleyes:

Dr. Mike advised could be the software incompatibility between Merc and Jeep and a visit to the dealership was in order.

a free capucino + free car wash + new sofware download & £32,- later .....the rest is history as they say. :icon_super:
